Impact Story: Senior Sunday/Sundae

 

In our life's there is seasons we all experience, one of those is graduation. For many this one instance comes with varying thoughts and feelings. Some might feel as if they are drifting through space not knowing what the future has in store for them leaving them with endless questions like "who am I" and "what do I love that I can call work." Or some are excited to hit the world head on. While those two perspectives are on opposite ends of the spectrum, we can always relate in some middle ground. Here we want to congratulate the graduating class of 2026 from River View and Mount View by allowing them to share their life verse that they will carry to this next season of life, their plan, and their prayer requests. 


Kelly Bell

Romans 12:7-9

"If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good."



Kelly Bell shares this life verse because this is her drive for pursuing special education at Bluefield State University. She wants to work with kids and serve them by giving  dignity, belonging, and honor, for this is her God-given gift. She will lead in the best way she can, love them deeply, and encourage them to discover and become their true self and not to change who they are at their core. She asks if we could pray for guidance within this new life she is going to start.


Joshua Harrison

Psalms 37:3-9

"Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land."


Josh brings this verse not just as a life verse but instead as a cornerstone to direct him on how to structure his life. He graduated from SouthWest Virginia Community College with an associates degree in Forestry, looking at what he can do with God by his side in this new path. He asks for requests of prayer regarding patience, wisdom, trust, and discipline.

Seth Hall

Proverbs 16:3

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

This verse sends a message to those who are drifting through the unknown, who are asking questions upon questions on whats next in various aspects. Seth leans heavily on this verse because he knows what is needed and what the Lord can do, even when he doesn't know what's next for him. We all have felt this in various ways, and he reminds us of the core aspect of God reaching through the unknown to aid us. Which we often forget.


Chelsey Atwell

Philippians 4:11-15 

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength."


As Chelsey brings her verse alongside the journey of life through aerospace engineering at West Virginia University, she knows that with the Lord, she is able to run even on empty. She knows that god will provide, no matter the conditions. She asks for prayers regarding her health issues revolving around finding an answer to why she is experiencing seizures and adapting to a strong understanding of mathematical principles, including algebra, calculus, and vector analysis.


Phoebe Dudgeon

Proverbs 16:3

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."


Phoebe Dudgeon knows what she wants to do at Bluefield State University, with that being her education major, but she doesn't know what God has in store for her in the midst of that. Yet she is leaning on him through it anyway, as this live verse tells us. She does have a prayer request that asks for settling down in the college environment with ease and finding a solid group of Christians that gives her a sense of belonging. 


Romans 12:15 NIV

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

As these students take on their first step of independence, be sure to cheer with them or mourn with them, for this is a transition of a new song and dance for them. Congratulations to the class of 2026, kudos!
